Faulkner University’s Annual Bible Lectureship featured a special invitational public speaking contest for high school students. Carson was selected to compete with a handful of other top performing high school students. The top male and female speaker received a full scholarship to Faulkner University, and the opportunity to visit the President’s Box at the homecoming football game.
Faulkner University is a private, Christian liberal arts university based in Montgomery, Alabama with a mission to provide an education anchored not only in academics, but also character and service. Students were selected to participate in this inaugural invitational based on their involvement in the Lads 2 Leaders/Leaderettes (L2L) program. Founded in 1968, L2L is a tool to help churches provide year-round Biblical leadership training to prepare young people for service in their church and community. Youth demonstrate their leadership skills through contests held during the annual convention Easter weekend at convention sites all over the world.
Carson attends Essential Church School and has been involved with the L2L program for many years though the Decatur Highway Church of Christ. The invitational is part of a larger Bible Lectureship held at Faulkner University during their homecoming week. Roy Johnson, the director of L2L, states, “We are delighted that Carson has excelled in speaking skills because of his participation in L2L.”
