Each year, students ages 12-17 (rising 7th – 12th graders) who are interested in performance and history, apply to audition for our summer Junior Interpreter Program. Those selected for the program will receive professional training and learn to assist our educational interpreters in presenting the customs and times of the 18th century. Junior Interpreters generally teach colonial games to visitors, participate in various historical vignettes, and assist in back-stage areas.
Audition dates: Auditions will take place in February for the 2024 summer season.
Program dates: Training Week will be May 28-31, 2024. Participants then attend every Tuesday and Thursday until July 4th; minimal absences allowed. Attendance for Training Week and July 4th is mandatory.
Fee: No fee; but the purchase of an 18th Century costume is required. Costumes are custom-made in the American Village costume shop; fittings begin in March.
