On July 1st, the Alabama law includes recognition of homeschooling for the first time. The changes to the Code of Alabama give us more homeschool freedom and prevents discrimination against our graduates. It is an exciting time!
It is also a time to re-visit your knowledge of the State requirements. There are some who believe and are proclaiming that homeschooling is now completely unregulated and free. This is not the case. Please educate yourself!
Please note that Section 16-28-3 of the Code of Alabama has NOT changed:
“Every child between the ages of six and 17 years shall be required to attend a public school, private school, church school, or be instructed by a competent private tutor for the entire length of the school term in every scholastic year…”
