BASKETBALL!! Homeschool families in the Birmingham area, this is your chance to have your  student athlete play basketball. The Legacy Lions are excited to be holding tryouts on September 26th and 27th.  If your student is ready to play, you have questions, or you are just curious, this is your chance to find out more. National Geography Bee 2020 SMIC Academy is hosting a site for the 2020 National Geography Bee for homeschooled students from Jefferson County and surrounding counties. We will offer 2-day group testing for students in grades 3-8 at our offices. PLEASE NOTE:  This is a 2-day testing process.  Your student will be required to attend BOTH testing days. Please complete the form below to reserve your student's participation before April 5th.  Essential families receive a significant discount on the test administration. MORE INFO ABOUT THE TEST: We are offering the Iowa Assessments Form E, which is the most up-to-date test available to our school.  This test assesses a broad array of skills in these areas: • Vocabulary • Reading Comprehension • Language (Spelling, Capitalization, Punctuation, Usage and Expression) • Math (Concepts and Estimation, Problem Solving and Data Interpretation, Computation) • Social Studies • Science • Sources of Information (Maps and Diagrams, Reference Materials).  Students mark answers on a bubble sheet. Each section is timed.  Test results are thorough and highlight strengths and weaknesses. TEST PREP: You can purchase and have your student go through a practice test.  Amazon.com offers several test prep books, and Essential families should also explore our school library for resources.

Alabama Homeschool Prom 2020

PLEASE SHARE THIS WITH OTHER HOMESCHOOLERS Open to any Homeschool 9-12th grade student and guest. We are asking for RSVP to better prepare for this event. Those who RSVP and are on the list, .... will pay $50 per person at the gate. Those who show up with no RSVP, will pay $ 70 per person. (Note, the RSVP link will close one week prior to the event. After that you will just need to show up and pay the non RSVP price...) Dress code is Semi-formal. most girls will be in a prom type dress, boys need a suit or tux... Our events are well chaperoned. Parents who feel they must stay for the prom, need to pay to get in and be dressed for the dance.
