BHC Ice Skating Day 2019

Pelham Civic Center 500 Amphitheater Road, Pelham, AL, United States

Join us and BHC for icy fun! Purchase your admissions at the door. $10 per skater Admission includes skate rental, 2 hour skate time, and a snack.  Admission is NOT required for non-skaters. This is a monthly group event.  We hope you will join us for connection and fun.  If this is your first group event or if you are coming by yourself, please look for one of our team usually wearing some sort of shirt, hat or lanyard.  We’d love to help you connect!

BHC Teen Event: Dinner and a Movie

Join our BHC teens for dinner and a movie on Thursday, February 7. They will meet at the AMC Classic Theater on Lorna Road. Tickets are usually $3.50. After the movie, they will go to Jack’s for dinner. Watch the BHC website for specific details.

BHC Valentine’s Party 2019

Join us and BHC for perhaps the largest valentine swap in the world!  (And…we are not exaggerating) Get creative with your valentine boxes.  There will be prizes awarded for the most creative ones! Valentine boxes should be dropped off by 1:45 so that they are ready for valentine delivery and judging. Valentines may be delivered any time between 2:00-2:45. Please prepare at least 50 valentines to deliver! If you want to create more, that’s fine; we’ve found that 50 is about right in order to have plenty to give out. Also, bring a snack and drink to share! Lawn chairs and picnic blankets are encouraged for visiting in the open area at this park. If you win a prize for your valentine box, don’t forget to find a BHC representative to get a goody from the prize box. *NOTE: Our group’s monthly events are often well attended and are a general celebration of the local homeschool community.  If this is your first event or if you want connection, please make sure you stop a mom with a BHC tshirt or visor and let her know!  We will be excited to help you get connected.

BHC Teen Event: Next Levl

Next Levl 6009 Tattersal Drive, Hoover, AL, United States

Our teens will practice being Ninja Warriors at Next Levl on 280. We will meet up on Friday, March 8. Please arrive no later than 1:45 to have plenty of time to prepare to start the activity at 2:00. A waiver must be filled out for all participants. You can do this at their website (https://nextlevl.pfestore.com/waiver/) or upon arrival. Admission is $21 for 1 1/2 hours. Gripper socks must be purchased on-site (price to come).

We will offer 2-day group testing for students in grades 3-8 at our offices. PLEASE NOTE:  This is a 2-day testing process.  Your student will be required to attend BOTH testing days. Please complete the form below to reserve your student's participation before April 1st.  Essential families receive a significant discount on the test administration. MORE INFO ABOUT THE TEST: We are offering the Iowa Assessments Form E, which is the most up-to-date test available to our school.  This test assesses a broad array of skills in these areas: • Vocabulary • Reading Comprehension • Language (Spelling, Capitalization, Punctuation, Usage and Expression) • Math (Concepts and Estimation, Problem Solving and Data Interpretation, Computation) • Social Studies • Science • Sources of Information (Maps and Diagrams, Reference Materials).  Students mark answers on a bubble sheet. Each section is timed.  Test results are thorough and highlight strengths and weaknesses. TEST PREP: You can purchase and have your student go through a practice test.  Amazon.com offers several test prep books, and Essential families should also explore our school library for resources.
