To Be Announced

Vision Night THIS SATURDAY, March 26 at 6:30pm We would like to invite parents to join us for a night of sharing vision and mission for our school and its ministries to the local homeschool community.  Due to time sensitivity, we will need you to RSVP by emailing Kristy for full details on our location. This night will include FREE gourmet dinner while we gather in a small setting to discuss the future of Essential and the ministry of BHC. If you are available and you have a heart to minister to homeschool families, please respond ASAP to secure your spot with us. Seats are limited. Perhaps you would like to coach a sport, or you love to host events, or you want to see more classes offered, or you'd like to sponsor a club... Essential was born out of a God-given dream for community, and we know that God has been using this season to call people.  If He is moving in your heart, we hope you will join us.  Let's see what God has for our families and our community in the coming school year! BHC Easter Park Day

Join us for a traditional Easter egg hunt as well as spring fun! Bring plastic eggs (with or without goodies inside) and baskets for the egg hunt, and bring a prepackaged spring treat/drink to share (or bring your own snack for your children). Teens and older students can help with egg hiding if they prefer. Dads often join us on this day too! Bring kites and sport equipment for free time. Hopefully, we will have beautiful weather, but we will meet rain or shine and hide eggs under the pavilion if needed! For those who haven’t joined us in the past, we do hide tickets in eggs to redeem for prizes after the egg hunt.  And here is our normal schedule: 1-1:30 pm – Families arrive and drop off eggs at designated area. 1:30-2 pm –  Teens/Dads hide eggs at a designated location while children play or eat. We gather in grade level groupings for the egg hunt at 2pm. For full details, visit the BHC website.

We will offer 2-day group in-person testing for students in grades 3-8 at our offices.  Our testing room only accommodates 10 students, so space is VERY limited.  (For information about online or at-home testing, visit the Testing information under the Resources tab above) PLEASE NOTE:  This is a 2-day testing process.  Your student will be required to attend BOTH testing days. Please complete the form below to reserve your student's participation before March 14th.  Essential families receive a significant discount on the test administration. MORE INFO ABOUT THE TEST: We are offering the Iowa Assessments Form E, which is the most up-to-date test available to our school.  This test assesses a broad array of skills in these areas: • Vocabulary • Reading Comprehension • Language (Spelling, Capitalization, Punctuation, Usage and Expression) • Math (Concepts and Estimation, Problem Solving and Data Interpretation, Computation) • Social Studies • Science • Sources of Information (Maps and Diagrams, Reference Materials).  Students mark answers on a bubble sheet. Each section is timed.  Test results are thorough and highlight strengths and weaknesses. TEST PREP: You can purchase and have your student go through a practice test.  Amazon.com offers several test prep books, and Essential families should also explore our school library for resources. Kindergarten Graduation 2022

Essential partners with BHC to offer this special ceremony for the homeschool community. This special day typically includes a slideshow of our graduates, a personal recognition by parents, opportunities to share accomplishments through presentations and table displays, and a special cake reception for family and friends. For your graduate to participate, NEEDED BY APRIL 1 Order any needed caps/gowns/tassels by April 1st (click here for options).  We encourage all graduates to have a cap and tassel.  Our group order helps keep cost low. NEEDED BY MAY 1 Pay the graduation fee and RSVP for either 1pm or 3:30pm ceremony with graduate's full name for diploma and preferred name for cake using the event link below or click here.  Space is limited.  CHECK YOUR MEMBER PAGE FOR DISCOUNT CODE Email or upload 3 pictures of your graduate to us by May 1st.  Make sure you include at least 1 baby photo.  Email to info@birminghamhomeschoolers.com Invite family and friends to join us for this special day! FAQS What does the graduation fee cover?  Event space coordination, personalized cake reception, and printing costs. What do graduates usually wear?  Most graduates wear "church" clothes  with a cap, gown, and tassel.  We encourage all graduates to have at least a cap/tassel. What do parents normally say at presentation of diploma?  We have parents come up with their graduate to present the diploma.  Most parents share about the things that make them proud of their graduate, but often it is a simple handoff and hug.  Please plan to keep your presentation to 3-5 minutes.   DO NOT CONTACT the church for information about the graduation.  They are only providing our event space.  They are not handling ANY of the graduation details or group arrangements.  All questions should be directed to BHC at info@birminghamhomeschoolers.com. ABOUT THE DAY Plan to arrive 10-15 minutes early to set up your displays.  In the past, parents have used presentation boards to display their graduate's accomplishments with photos and examples of their work from the school year.   Each graduate will receive about 2 feet of table space.  Space will be marked on the tables when you arrive. Please note that helium balloons are not allowed.

High School Graduation Ceremony

We look forward to a special, formal evening celebrating our high school graduates. Graduates and their parents should use Graduation Information link on the Member Page to register for participation and admissions. Admissions for friends and extended family are required for attendance.  Please secure your attendance admission BEFORE May 20th.  Admissions may be offered after this date, but they will reflect additional fees for adjustment charges.  The admission ticket allows us to plan for attendance, cover photography services, and provide a cake reception following the ceremony. Although admissions are not refundable, please contact us if you are unable to attend due to illness.  We encourage everyone to continue to abide by health and safety guidelines in respect for others. Scroll down to see the order form.  Be careful entering your email address and selecting appropriate tickets.  You will receive a confirmation email.  Please forward this confirmation to any guests for whom you are purchasing tickets, so they can show as needed for entry. (The email does not have to be printed.  Viewing on a phone will be acceptable.) If you have any questions or issues with ticket purchase, please use the Contact Us tab above to send us a quick message. Small children ages 5 and under do not require a ticket.  Please note that this event can be long for young children.  Consider having some quiet activities for them while sitting in the auditorium, or have them stay with a sitter for the evening.

Legacy Volleyball Camp & Tryouts

It’s that time! Volleyball!!! Please mark these dates on your calendar. We will use this camp as our evaluation time for teams this fall. June 13-15, 12:30-3:00 daily 8th grade - 12th grade $75 June 16-17, 12:30-3:00 daily 7th grade $50 Camp will be held at the Gardendale Civic Center Please plan to attend if you would like to play this fall.
