Join us for the Ultimate Field Trip adventure at the US Space & Rocket Center! Arranged by our own school administrator. Take a look at what is all included with group admission: General Admission Davidson Center for Space Exploration Featured Exhibition ISS: Science on Orbit Rocket Park Military Park Shuttle Park G-Force Accelerator Moon Shot INTUITIVE Planetarium Tour Guide One-hour student lab (geared for grades 4/5 and might require parent assistance for younger students) Lunch will be on your own. You can bring a lunch or eat at their onsite restaurant. When you reserve your group admissions, let us know if you plan to bring lunch for your family – this will allow us to help the restaurant be prepared as needed to serve us. COST: $38/person ages 5 and up – includes admission, planetarium show, tour guide, student lab, and all processing fees. Ages 4 and under can attend for FREE, but they will not be allowed to participate in the student lab. We will try to set up a place for parents and young children to explore while students are in the lab session. AND – note that ages 3 and 4 need to wear a mask while indoors. SOME RULES FOR PARTICIPATION: Just as astronauts brave the challenges of space, we will be facing the challenges presented by COVID-19. Due to the recent spike in COVID-19 transmissions, the U.S. Space & Rocket Center is requiring all visitors ages 3 and older wear masks inside the buildings and on simulators regardless of vaccination status. Please remember that there is an inherent risk of exposure to COVID-19 in any public place where people are present. Let’s all do our part to reduce the spread of COVID-19. Vision Night THIS SATURDAY, March 26 at 6:30pm We would like to invite parents to join us for a night of sharing vision and mission for our school and its ministries to the local homeschool community. Due to time sensitivity, we will need you to RSVP by emailing Kristy for full details on our location. This night will include FREE gourmet dinner while we gather in a small setting to discuss the future of Essential and the ministry of BHC. If you are available and you have a heart to minister to homeschool families, please respond ASAP to secure your spot with us. Seats are limited. Perhaps you would like to coach a sport, or you love to host events, or you want to see more classes offered, or you'd like to sponsor a club... Essential was born out of a God-given dream for community, and we know that God has been using this season to call people. If He is moving in your heart, we hope you will join us. Have you ever wanted to have one place to go to find all your teen needed for high school and after high school? We may have just the place for you and for your teen to explore! This year’s College/Career Fair is sure to have something for everyone – from college admissions to driver’s education, from cosmetology schools to gap year experiences. Mark you calendar, register for your admission, and plan for a day of inspiration and knowledge! This event will be perfect for students in grades 8-12. Register Now
Join us for a traditional Easter egg hunt as well as spring fun! Bring plastic eggs (with or without goodies inside) and baskets for the egg hunt, and bring a prepackaged spring treat/drink to share (or bring your own snack for your children). Teens and older students can help with egg hiding if they prefer. Dads often join us on this day too! Bring kites and sport equipment for free time. Hopefully, we will have beautiful weather, but we will meet rain or shine and hide eggs under the pavilion if needed! For those who haven’t joined us in the past, we do hide tickets in eggs to redeem for prizes after the egg hunt. And here is our normal schedule: 1-1:30 pm – Families arrive and drop off eggs at designated area. 1:30-2 pm – Teens/Dads hide eggs at a designated location while children play or eat. Essential partners with BHC to offer this special ceremony for the homeschool community. This special day typically includes a slideshow of our graduates, a personal recognition by parents, opportunities to share accomplishments through presentations and table displays, and a special cake reception for family and friends. For your graduate to participate, NEEDED BY APRIL 1 Order any needed caps/gowns/tassels by April 1st (click here for options). We encourage all graduates to have a cap and tassel. Our group order helps keep cost low. NEEDED BY MAY 1 Pay the graduation fee and RSVP for either 1pm or 3:30pm ceremony with graduate's full name for diploma and preferred name for cake using the event link below or click here. Event space coordination, personalized cake reception, and printing costs. What do graduates usually wear? Most graduates wear "church" clothes with a cap, gown, and tassel. We encourage all graduates to have at least a cap/tassel. What do parents normally say at presentation of diploma? We have parents come up with their graduate to present the diploma. Most parents share about the things that make them proud of their graduate, but often it is a simple handoff and hug. Please plan to keep your presentation to 3-5 minutes. DO NOT CONTACT the church for information about the graduation. They are only providing our event space. They are not handling ANY of the graduation details or group arrangements. All questions should be directed to BHC at info@birminghamhomeschoolers.com. ABOUT THE DAY Plan to arrive 10-15 minutes early to set up your displays. In the past, parents have used presentation boards to display their graduate's accomplishments with photos and examples of their work from the school year. Each graduate will receive about 2 feet of table space. Space will be marked on the tables when you arrive. Please note that helium balloons are not allowed.
