MEET DR DOUGLAS BROWN

Dr. Brown is the only Chiropractic Neurologist in Alabama, a highly trained qualified expert of the brain and its environment. He uses medication free and non-surgical treatment methods for many conditions of the brain and nervous system. Many of the drug therapies used by medical neurologists can carry increased risks for serious complications or side effects. Dr Brown’s approach is vastly different from that of any other physician that you may have seen. First, he takes a careful brain focused history followed by a complete neurological examination. He then goes deeper where he carefully examines each individual part of the patient’s brain (frontal, parietal, temporal and occipital lobes), which includes the deep structures (i.e. basal ganglia, thalamus, hypothalamus, limbic) and the cerebellum.  Because each part of the brain has a unique function, treating them must have a unique approach.  These approaches may include specific movements, light, visual targeting, sounds, vocabulary, vibration, mathematics, modeling, specific spins, specific exercises of gymnastics, music, dance, computer-based exercises, balance exercise and many more.   As there are no two brains exactly alike, there are no two treatments exactly alike.  The individual response in the brain to the therapeutic exercises assigned one week, for example, determines what specific exercises that are prescribed for the next week.  Therefore, both the sequence and variety of exercises are specific to individual needs revealed in each follow up examination.

Brain Games: 10:30-11:30am on January 26.  He will give a 10-15 minute lecture on “memory” and then we will do exercises to increase memory.   This is targeted to the student, busy parents as well as those who are aging and experiencing short term memory loss.  Cost is $10 for this session
