Kindergarten Graduation

BHC, along with Essential Church School, offers a kindergarten graduation for all area homeschool families. This special day includes a slideshow of our graduates, a personal recognition by parents, opportunities to share accomplishments through presentations and table displays, and a special cake reception for family and friends. For your graduate to participate, NEEDED NOW Pay the graduation fee and RSVP below with graduate’s full name for diploma and preferred name for cake.  Space is limited. Order any needed caps/gowns/tassels by April 1st (check back to click here for options).  We encourage all graduates to have a cap and tassel.  Our group order helps keep cost low. Order Graduation Supplies Now NEEDED BY MAY 1 Email 3 pictures of your graduate to us by May 1st.  Make sure you include at least 1 baby photo. Let us know if your graduate would like to perform or present. (Presentations are limited to 5 minutes) Order any McWane Adventure Hall tickets needed.  (Adventure Hall admission is NOT included in graduation) Invite family and friends to join us for this special day! Attendees will enter through the Event Center entrance.  Adventure Halls are NOT included, but you can secure special group tickets here by May 1st. Plan to arrive 10-15 minutes early to set up your displays.  In the past, parents have used presentation boards to display their graduate’s accomplishments.   Each graduate will receive about 2 feet of table space.  Space will be marked on the tables when you arrive. Please note that helium balloons are not allowed inside McWane. FAQs What does the graduation fee cover?  Event space rental and personalized cake reception What do graduates usually wear?  Most graduates wear “church” clothes  with a cap, gown, and tassel.  We encourage all graduates to have at least a cap/tassel. What do parents normally say at presentation of diploma?  We have parents come up with their graduate to present the diploma.  Most parents share about the things that make them proud of their graduate, but often it is a simple handoff and hug.  Please plan to keep your presentation to 3-5 minutes.

2015-2016 Attendance Due

All attendance records for the school year must be submitted and completed by this date.  This is Essential's only requirement for enrollment and is a requirement of the state law. Attendance records can be: Completed Online Uploaded on Member Page Scanned  and sent via email *Those who are delinquent in submitting attendance records will be automatically withdrawn and reported to the local school superintendent for the security of our school.* (This only applies to those enrolled during the current school year)

We will open up the School Library storage for families to browse through materials available.  Those enrolled for 2016-2017 will be able to check out items for the school year. The library is only available to current Essential families. When coming to the library, please keep children in the car, because we only have a small space and there is still much to be fully organized. Park behind Building B and enter through the back door of Building B for the easiest access. Browse through our online catalog which is available through your Member Page to put items on hold and save some time browsing.

We will offer 2-day group testing for students in grades 3-8 at our offices.  PLEASE NOTE:  This is a 2-day testing process.  Your student will be required to attend BOTH testing days.  Please complete the form below to reserve your student's participation: MORE INFO ABOUT THE TEST: We are offering the Iowa Assessments Form E, which is the most up-to-date test available to our school.  This test assesses a broad array of skills in these areas: • Vocabulary • Reading Comprehension • Language (Spelling, Capitalization, Punctuation, Usage and Expression) • Math (Concepts and Estimation, Problem Solving and Data Interpretation, Computation) • Social Studies • Science • Sources of Information (Maps and Diagrams, Reference Materials).  Students mark answers on a bubble sheet. Each section is timed.  Test results are thorough and highlight strengths and weaknesses.
