US Space & Rocket Center

U.S. Space & Rocket Center One Tranquility Base, Huntsville, AL, United States

Join us for the Ultimate Field Trip adventure at the US Space & Rocket Center!  Arranged by our own school administrator. Take a look at what is all included with group admission: General Admission Davidson Center for Space Exploration Featured Exhibition ISS: Science on Orbit Rocket Park Military Park Shuttle Park G-Force Accelerator Moon Shot INTUITIVE Planetarium Tour Guide One-hour student lab (geared for grades 4/5 and might require parent assistance for younger students) Lunch will be on your own.  You can bring a lunch or eat at their onsite restaurant.  When you reserve your group admissions, let us know if you plan to bring lunch for your family – this will allow us to help the restaurant be prepared as needed to serve us. COST: $38/person ages 5 and up – includes admission, planetarium show, tour guide, student lab, and all processing fees. Ages 4 and under can attend for FREE, but they will not be allowed to participate in the student lab.  We will try to set up a place for parents and young children to explore while students are in the lab session.  AND – note that ages 3 and 4 need to wear a mask while indoors. SOME RULES FOR PARTICIPATION:   Just as astronauts brave the challenges of space, we will be facing the challenges presented by COVID-19. Due to the recent spike in COVID-19 transmissions, the U.S. Space & Rocket Center is requiring all visitors ages 3 and older wear masks inside the buildings and on simulators regardless of vaccination status. Please remember that there is an inherent risk of exposure to COVID-19 in any public place where people are present. Let’s all do our part to reduce the spread of COVID-19.         Please reserve your admission on the BHC website BEFORE February 14th!

Vision Night

Vision Night THIS SATURDAY, March 26 at 6:30pm We would like to invite parents to join us for a night of sharing vision and mission for our school and its ministries to the local homeschool community.  Due to time sensitivity, we will need you to RSVP by emailing Kristy for full details on our location. This night will include FREE gourmet dinner while we gather in a small setting to discuss the future of Essential and the ministry of BHC. If you are available and you have a heart to minister to homeschool families, please respond ASAP to secure your spot with us. Seats are limited. Perhaps you would like to coach a sport, or you love to host events, or you want to see more classes offered, or you'd like to sponsor a club... Essential was born out of a God-given dream for community, and we know that God has been using this season to call people.  If He is moving in your heart, we hope you will join us.  Let's see what God has for our families and our community in the coming school year! We will offer 2-day group in-person testing for students in grades 3-8 at our offices.  Our testing room only accommodates 10 students, so space is VERY limited.  (For information about online or at-home testing, visit the Testing information under the Resources tab above) PLEASE NOTE:  This is a 2-day testing process.  Your student will be required to attend BOTH testing days. Please complete the form below to reserve your student's participation before March 14th.  Essential families receive a significant discount on the test administration. MORE INFO ABOUT THE TEST: We are offering the Iowa Assessments Form E, which is the most up-to-date test available to our school.  This test assesses a broad array of skills in these areas: • Vocabulary • Reading Comprehension • Language (Spelling, Capitalization, Punctuation, Usage and Expression) • Math (Concepts and Estimation, Problem Solving and Data Interpretation, Computation) • Social Studies • Science • Sources of Information (Maps and Diagrams, Reference Materials).  Students mark answers on a bubble sheet. Kindergarten Graduation 2022

Essential partners with BHC to offer this special ceremony for the homeschool community. This special day typically includes a slideshow of our graduates, a personal recognition by parents, opportunities to share accomplishments through presentations and table displays, and a special cake reception for family and friends. For your graduate to participate, NEEDED BY APRIL 1 Order any needed caps/gowns/tassels by April 1st (click here for options).  We encourage all graduates to have a cap and tassel.  Our group order helps keep cost low. NEEDED BY MAY 1 Pay the graduation fee and RSVP for either 1pm or 3:30pm ceremony with graduate's full name for diploma and preferred name for cake using the event link below or click here.  Space is limited.  CHECK YOUR MEMBER PAGE FOR DISCOUNT CODE Email or upload 3 pictures of your graduate to us by May 1st.  Make sure you include at least 1 baby photo.  Email to info@birminghamhomeschoolers.com Invite family and friends to join us for this special day! FAQS What does the graduation fee cover?  Event space coordination, personalized cake reception, and printing costs. What do graduates usually wear?  Most graduates wear "church" clothes  with a cap, gown, and tassel.  We encourage all graduates to have at least a cap/tassel. What do parents normally say at presentation of diploma?  We have parents come up with their graduate to present the diploma.  Most parents share about the things that make them proud of their graduate, but often it is a simple handoff and hug.  Please plan to keep your presentation to 3-5 minutes.   DO NOT CONTACT the church for information about the graduation.  They are only providing our event space.  They are not handling ANY of the graduation details or group arrangements.  All questions should be directed to BHC at info@birminghamhomeschoolers.com. ABOUT THE DAY Plan to arrive 10-15 minutes early to set up your displays.  In the past, parents have used presentation boards to display their graduate's accomplishments with photos and examples of their work from the school year.   Each graduate will receive about 2 feet of table space.  Space will be marked on the tables when you arrive. Please note that helium balloons are not allowed.

High School Graduation Ceremony

We look forward to a special, formal evening celebrating our high school graduates. Graduates and their parents should use Graduation Information link on the Member Page to register for participation and admissions. Admissions for friends and extended family are required for attendance.  Please secure your attendance admission BEFORE May 20th.  Admissions may be offered after this date, but they will reflect additional fees for adjustment charges.  The admission ticket allows us to plan for attendance, cover photography services, and provide a cake reception following the ceremony. Although admissions are not refundable, please contact us if you are unable to attend due to illness.  We encourage everyone to continue to abide by health and safety guidelines in respect for others. Scroll down to see the order form.  Be careful entering your email address and selecting appropriate tickets.  You will receive a confirmation email.  Please forward this confirmation to any guests for whom you are purchasing tickets, so they can show as needed for entry. (The email does not have to be printed.  Viewing on a phone will be acceptable.) If you have any questions or issues with ticket purchase, please use the Contact Us tab above to send us a quick message. Small children ages 5 and under do not require a ticket.  Please note that this event can be long for young children.  Consider having some quiet activities for them while sitting in the auditorium, or have them stay with a sitter for the evening.

Highlands College Homeschool Preview Day

We invite our Juniors and Seniors to join us for a day of exploring options for their next steps after high school.  Highlands College wants to introduce you to their school as well as help your student find HIS/HER next step.  It's completely free and even involves free lunch and a drink from their cafe.  We will tour their new facilities and be encouraged in ways to prepare for God's leading in the next season. RSVP is required in order to help the school prepare for food and materials, and we will send informational emails for arrival and final details to the preferred email address.  Please include parents/students in your numbers. We do not encourage bringing young children, as we will be walking and engaging in discussions that could be uncomfortable and boring for little ones.  Please contact us if you feel you must bring younger siblings.
